Learn to Fly Fish on the Poudre this Spring!
Our Spring Beginner Fly Fishing Class is in full swing. Using special use permits for the Fort Collins Natural Areas we are proud to offer this “On the Water” class. Our Beginner Fly Fishing Class-Fort Collins is a fun and relaxed way to learn the fundamentals of the sport of fly fishing. After 6 hours of instruction our students will have cut 5 years off the learning curve and be ready to get out on the water and be successful on their own. This class will be taught on the water were the fish are at. Learning how to cast on water will allow the students to learn the nuances of the sport that are impossible to learn on grass at a park. Spring Beginner Anglers Class Cost: $215. This price includes a lunch and all essential gear (boots, waders, rod, reel, flies, leaders and tippet). A Colorado fishing license is required for all Beginner Fly Fishing Classes. We will teach you:
- Presentation: How to mend fly line and present the fly to the fish.
- Knots: To tie the required knots for leaders, tippet and flies.
- Reading Water: Where trout live, why they live there, and how to fish riffles, pocket water and meanders.
- Nymphing: Fly Fishing techniques to increase your catch rates on any river you fish.
- Dry Fly Techniques: How to effectively present dry flies to rising trout.
- Safe Wading: How safely wade to prime fly fishing positions.
- Fly Selection/Entomology: How to choose the best fly for the situation.
